The Mostly Occasionally Show (Podcast)

After dabbling in podcasting years ago—helping Robby Berger with his show during his BroBible stint (I'm in the background of this video with Forrest Galant) and assisting on production and monetization for others, like BroBible’s short-lived show with PGA golfer Harold Varner—I decided it was finally time to give one a go myself.

Enter The Mostly Occasionally Show, launched in the summer of 2024.

Eek! But Brandon! You’re so cringe behind a mic, loser.

Oh I know. But honestly, who cares?

Why Now?

A few reasons. First, I didn’t have a great outlet for the long-form conversations I’ve had with cultural figures who intersect with BroBible. Secondly—and maybe more importantly—I was fed up with my professional life being completely consumed by advertising.

When we bought BroBible back in 2018, the plan was simple: build a thriving independent digital media business and have some fun along the way. I'm proud of the ways we've achieved that vision. But as the years went on, the fun got buried under a mountain of proposals, pitches, and quarterbacking an endless slog of campaigns. Creative contributions took a backseat to the grind. I'm not complaining—a job is a job.

Then came March 2024. At 38, I was diagnosed with shingles. We didn't have the chicken pox vaccine when I was a kid, so I always feared this happening when I got older. The nerve pain hurt like hell. My doctor thought it was an immune system response, and quite bluntly, told me I was running myself into the ground. It was a wake-up call. Advertising on the modern Internet can be... a lot, especially when you're a small team.

So, with no grand plan but a desire for something different, I came up with a name and just went for it.

All for the fun of it.

What’s It About?

At its heart, The Mostly Occasionally Show is a not-easy-to-classify, cross-genre grab bag of conversations. Sure, it touches on music and internet culture, but it’s not limited to that. The true scope of this podcast is people that interest me.

... which I know sounds pretty vague!

As publisher of BroBible.com, I’ve been lucky to cross paths with fascinating figures from all walks of life. This podcast is my way of locking into the groove of those pivotal moments—where identity, creativity, and curiosity collide. I’m ready to lean into that more. Expect many artists, musicians, actors, and athletes as guests, since that's typically what I tend to write about.

That's me, in a studio in Los Angeles, ready to record.

Why Listen?

I love talking to people, and I hope that comes across in this endeavor. I just know I want it to feel like one part three ring circus, one part a dinner conversation with a friend. I have no expectations and no idea where this road will take me.

New episodes drop when they’re worth sharing, at no regular schedule or interval for now. Just... when it's ready. That's why I'm calling it the Mostly Occasionally Show, because its frequency will truly be mostly occasionally.

So, here' the call-to-action: Tune in! Maybe subscribe or leave a review? LMK if you have any ideas for an episode or want to send me some mail. My email is brandon@brobible.com. Or reach out on my Instagram. No pressure either way.

The point of all this is to chill and have some creative fulfillment.

Mostly because it’s fun. Occasionally, because it might just make you think.
